Callaway used artificial intelligence to design a dedicated face for every loft in the Apex Ai150 set, instead of scaling a single face template across the whole range. The AI-driven design places internal support and face thickness exactly where each specific loft needs it, so ball speed, launch angle, and spin stay consistent as the loft changes. The result is a set that behaves like a cohesive, dialed-in family of clubs rather than a compromise between long-iron speed and short-iron control.
Every Apex Ai150 head starts life as a 1025 forged hollow body, chosen for the soft, premium feel it gives at address and at impact. The long irons, from the 3-iron to the 7-iron, use a thin and fast 455 face cup that flexes on contact to add ball speed and forgiveness where golfers need it most. The 8-iron through the approach wedge switch to a firmer 17-4 stainless face, built for the control, feel, and precise distance gapping a better player expects from scoring clubs.
Inside the hollow head cavity, a layer of urethane microspheres absorbs unwanted vibration the moment the ball leaves the face. This damping layer removes the harsh, tinny feedback that hollow irons can produce on mis-hits, replacing it with a soft, muted sound and feel at impact. The effect holds up across the face, so even shots struck away from center still feel controlled rather than harsh.
A Metal Injection Molded (MIM) weight system lets Callaway position mass inside the head far more precisely than traditional casting allows, and that weighting changes from loft to loft. In the long irons, the center of gravity sits lower and further back to help launch the ball higher and add forgiveness on off-center hits.
