Description

Golfsmith Straight Fluted Hand Reamer, 0.370

The Golfsmith Straight Fluted Hand Reamer (0.370") is a precision club-repair tool engineered for professional clubmakers and serious DIY enthusiasts who demand accuracy during re-shafting work. Designed specifically for finishing and re-conditioning 0.370" hosel bores, it delivers a consistently clean bore surface that ensures an optimal epoxy bond between shaft and hosel. Whether you are converting a tapered hosel to accept a parallel 0.370" shaft or simply cleaning up an existing bore after shaft removal, this reamer gives you professional-grade results in a hand-operated tool.

  • Engineered for finishing and re-conditioning 0.370" hosel bores to a high degree of accuracy and surface finish.
  • Made to exacting specifications, ensuring a precise allowance between shaft and hosel for a perfect epoxy bond.
  • Straight fluted design removes up to 0.003" (0.1 mm) of material per side from standard hosel bores.
  • Tapered lead tip guides the reamer accurately into the hosel bore for centered, chatter-free cutting.
  • Dual-use capability: primarily a hand-reaming tool, but also compatible with a drill press at 150 RPM or below.
  • Suitable for use on common iron hosel alloys including 17-4 PH stainless steel and 6AL-4V titanium.
  • Ideal for re-shafting irons and for converting tapered 0.355" hosels to accept parallel 0.370" shafts.
Precision Bore Finishing

The straight fluted geometry creates a smooth, controlled cutting action that removes only the necessary amount of material — up to 0.003" (approx. 0.1 mm) per side — leaving a clean bore wall free of tool marks. This high surface finish is critical for maximising contact area and adhesion strength of the epoxy when bonding the shaft to the hosel.

Tapered Lead for Self-Centering Entry

A specially designed tapered lead section at the tip of the reamer guides it precisely into the existing hosel bore, centralizing the tool automatically before cutting begins. This reduces the risk of off-axis reaming and ensures the finished bore remains true to the original centerline of the hosel.

Hand Reaming & Drill Press Compatible

Specifically designed for manual operation with a tap wrench or chucking handle, the reamer can also be mounted in a drill press running at or below 150 RPM. For best results, use cutting oil and maintain a steady, moderate feed rate — turning too fast or too slowly can cause chatter and an uneven bore surface.

0.370" — The Standard Iron Shaft Tip Size

The 0.370" tip diameter is the industry-standard parallel tip size for iron shafts. This reamer is the go-to tool when preparing a hosel to accept a fresh parallel-tip iron shaft or when enlarging a tapered 0.355" bore to the 0.370" parallel standard, giving clubmakers full flexibility in shaft selection.
