Masters Golf Extension Piece Double End for Steel shaft (.58)
The Masters Golf Extension Piece Double End is an essential club-repair and custom-fitting tool designed for club builders, fitters, and golfers who want to increase the playing length of their steel-shafted clubs without replacing the entire shaft. Engineered specifically for steel shafts with a .580" butt diameter, this double-ended piece lets you extend not one but two clubs from a single unit — simply cut it in half to produce two ready-to-use extensions. Whether you are fitting clubs for taller players, restoring a shaft that was trimmed too short, or fine-tuning your set for optimal performance, this extension piece delivers a precise, secure fit at a fraction of the cost of a full reshaft.
- Double-ended design — one piece extends two clubs when cut in half, maximising value for club builders and fitters.
- Designed for .580" steel shafts — tapered ends ensure a snug, precise fit inside the butt of standard .580" steel shafts.
- Approx. 30.5 cm (12") total length — generous full length before cutting, giving you ample material to achieve your desired extension amount.
- Easy installation — apply shafting epoxy, slide the tapered end into the shaft butt, allow to cure, then cut to your target playing length.
- Compatible with irons, hybrids and more — suitable for virtually any steel-shafted club with a matching .580" butt diameter.
- Cost-effective club customisation — an affordable alternative to full reshafting, ideal for taller players or personalised club fitting.
- Masters Golf quality — produced by a trusted specialist in golf club servicing accessories and component parts.
How the Double-End System Works
The extension piece features tapered (swedged) ends on both sides of a parallel mid-section. When you cut the piece in half at the centre, each half becomes an individual extension with one tapered insertion end and one exposed butt end. The tapered portion slides securely into the existing steel shaft butt; the exposed portion protrudes beyond the shaft, adding the desired extra length. Once the epoxy has fully cured, simply trim the exposed end to your precise target length before re-gripping.
Installation Guide
- Cut the double-end piece at the centre to produce two individual extensions.
- Lightly roughen the tapered insertion end with sandpaper for better epoxy adhesion.
- Apply a thin, even layer of shafting epoxy to the tapered end.
- Slide the tapered end firmly into the shaft butt until fully seated.
- Allow epoxy to cure completely (follow epoxy manufacturer guidelines).
- Trim the protruding end to the desired playing length using a hacksaw or pipe cutter.
- Re-grip the club as normal.
Note: Extending a club by more than 2 inches (approx. 50 mm) may compromise shaft integrity and increase the risk of breakage. Always observe recommended extension limits.
