Description
PING PP58 Tour L PLD putter grip
The PING PP58 Tour L PLD putter grip delivers tour-proven feel and precision for golfers who demand the best from their putting stroke. Featuring a new smoother texture and an enlarged Pistol profile, this midsize grip is engineered to heighten face awareness and make it easier to square the putter face at impact — giving you the confidence to start the ball on your intended line, putt after putt. Crafted by Golf Pride exclusively for PING, it is a natural companion for the PLD putter range as well as a premium upgrade for any PING putter.
Key Features
- New Smoother Texture: Refined rubber surface reduces unwanted friction for a consistent, repeatable grip pressure throughout the stroke.
- Enlarged Pistol Shape: A larger pistol profile compared to the standard PP58 promotes a stable hand position and improved face awareness at address and through impact.
- Midsize Profile: The Tour L sizing sits between standard and oversized, reducing grip tension and helping to keep the wrists firm for a smoother, more controlled stroke.
- 0.580" Core Diameter: Industry-standard 0.580" bore ensures compatibility with all standard PING putter shafts and most aftermarket putter shafts.
- Lightweight at 85 g: Carefully balanced weight keeps overall putter swingweight in the ideal range without requiring additional counterbalancing.
- Made by Golf Pride for PING: Manufactured by Golf Pride under exclusive licence for PING, ensuring the same quality standards as grips installed on PING's own PLD custom putters.
- Universal Fit: Suitable as a direct replacement grip for all PING putters and compatible with any putter featuring a standard 0.580" shaft.
- Classic Black Colourway: Sleek all-black finish integrates seamlessly with the understated aesthetics of PING's PLD putter line.
Technology in Detail
New Smoother Rubber Texture
The PP58 Tour L PLD introduces a refined rubber compound with a smoother surface finish compared to earlier PP58 generations. This updated texture is designed to promote consistent grip pressure from the fingers through to the palms, reducing any tendency to grip the club too tightly under pressure. A lighter grip pressure is widely recognised as beneficial to a smooth, pendulum-style putting stroke, and the Tour L's texture encourages exactly that. The result is a more relaxed, repeatable feel that holds up across all 18 holes and every practice session.
Enlarged Pistol Shape for Face Awareness
The defining characteristic of the Tour L is its larger pistol profile, which positions the hands more precisely on the grip and creates a natural reference point for face alignment at address. The pistol shape has been a hallmark of PING putter grips since the 1970s; the Tour L updates this heritage with a bigger, more pronounced taper that makes it immediately obvious when the hands are in the correct position. This increased face awareness translates directly into more accurate alignment and a higher proportion of putts started on the intended line.
Midsize Profile for Stroke Stability
At midsize, the Tour L occupies the sweet spot between a standard grip and a full oversized model. The additional girth compared to a standard PP58 encourages the larger muscles of the forearms and shoulders to take control of the stroke, reducing the influence of the smaller wrist muscles that can introduce unwanted arc or face rotation. The outcome is a more stable, consistent stroke that holds its path through the impact zone — a key factor in making more putts, particularly from inside 10 feet where accuracy is paramount.
Golf Pride Manufacture — PLD Standard Quality
Every PP58 Tour L PLD grip is manufactured by Golf Pride, the world's leading grip manufacturer, under an exclusive arrangement with PING. This partnership ensures that the grip meets the same exacting tolerances and material standards as those fitted to PING's PLD Custom putters — arguably the most precise, tour-level putters PING produces. Golfers can therefore install this grip with confidence that they are getting genuine, OEM-quality performance rather than a generic aftermarket alternative.
