Developed in close collaboration between Cobra Golf and SIK Golf, the aluminum face insert is the cornerstone of the Stingray-40's performance. Aluminum as a face material strikes the ideal balance between a soft, responsive feel at impact and the precise milling tolerances required for DLT. The insert produces a noticeably soft sound and sensation, offering excellent feedback on both long lag putts and short pressure putts. Compared to a traditional stainless steel face, the aluminum insert dampens unwanted vibration so every stroke feels pure and intentional.
SIK Descending Loft Technology (DLT)
SIK Golf's patented Descending Loft Technology is the defining innovation of this putter. The face is machined with four distinct loft zones — 4°, 3°, 2°, and 1° — that descend from the top to the bottom of the face. This ingenious design compensates automatically for the wide variation in attack angles that golfers bring to the ball, whether ascending, neutral, or descending. The result is a remarkably consistent launch angle of 1.5° on every putt, which gets the ball rolling end-over-end sooner and with less skid. Greater roll consistency means more predictable distance control and a straighter path to the hole.
Adjustable Sole Weighting
Every Stingray-40 ships with a single 10g sole weight installed, providing a well-balanced baseline feel suited to most golfers. If you prefer a heavier, more pendulum-like sensation through the stroke, the weight port accepts optional 15g, 20g, and 25g weights (sold separately), allowing up to +15g of additional mass. Adding weight lowers the swing weight, slows the tempo of the stroke, and increases stability — particularly beneficial on fast greens where a smooth, controlled stroke is paramount. The tool-free (or single-tool) swap makes it easy to experiment on the practice green until you find your ideal setting.
Carbon Fiber Sole & Multi-Material Construction
Cobra engineers integrated a lightweight polymer cartridge and a carbon fiber sole panel to remove 18 grams of mass from the center of the clubhead. That freed-up weight is redistributed to the perimeter of the heavy 320g stainless steel chassis, pushing the moment of inertia to its maximum value for this head shape. The carbon fiber component also contributes to overall rigidity, ensuring the structural integrity of the head is maintained even with the adjustable weight port in the sole. The result is a putter that feels exceptionally solid at impact while offering the weight-saving benefits of advanced composite materials.
Short Slant Hosel & 40° Toe Hang
The short slant hosel geometry positions the shaft slightly off-center relative to the face, creating 40° of toe hang. This characteristic is specifically engineered for players whose putter naturally opens on the backswing and closes through impact — commonly described as a slight arc stroke. The 40° toe hang encourages the toe to rotate naturally through the hitting zone, reducing compensatory hand action and improving face-angle control at the moment of contact. Golfers with a straight-back, straight-through stroke will find better fit in the face-balanced Stingray, while the Stingray-40 is the arc-stroke specialist of the pair.
