Technology in Detail
Alignment & Ball Position
Correct alignment is one of the most common faults in amateur golf, and fixing it is one of the fastest ways to improve your scores. By placing a Tour Rodz stick on the ground along your target line, you immediately have a visual reference for your feet, hips, and shoulders. A second stick can be positioned to highlight the correct ball position for each club — whether you are hitting a wedge, a mid-iron, or a driver. This two-stick system replicates exactly the kind of alignment work you see tour professionals performing during warm-up, giving you a professional-standard feedback loop at an accessible price.
Swing Plane & Swing Path
A consistently correct swing plane is the foundation of repeatable ball-striking, and the Tour Rodz sticks offer an effective way to train it. By angling a stick into the ground and using it as a plane guide, you can feel and see whether your club is travelling on the correct arc during the backswing and through-swing. Combining this with a second stick laid along the target line also highlights swing path — helping you identify and correct over-the-top moves, pushes, or pulls before they become ingrained habits. Regular work with this drill builds the muscle memory needed for more consistent, accurate shots.
Posture, Balance & Grip Position
Good posture and a balanced setup are prerequisites for an effective golf swing, yet they are among the hardest things to self-monitor without feedback. The Tour Rodz sticks can be used across the thighs or placed against the back to check and reinforce correct posture angles at address. Balance drills using the sticks train your body to maintain stability throughout the swing, improving your ability to transfer power efficiently and strike the ball cleanly. Grip position checks using the sticks ensure your hands are consistently in the right place at address, which directly influences the clubface angle at impact.
Tempo, Rhythm & Release
Tempo and rhythm are often overlooked aspects of the golf swing, yet they have a profound effect on both power and consistency. The Tour Rodz sticks can be used as a timing aid — swinging the stick itself builds an awareness of the correct pace and transition from backswing to downswing. Release drills with the sticks encourage a full, free rotation of the forearms through impact, promoting a natural draw and added clubhead speed. Whether you practise with a smooth, measured tempo or work on increasing your rhythm for greater distance, the Tour Rodz sticks provide a simple, tangible tool to guide your development.
Short Game: Chipping & Putting
The short game accounts for the majority of shots in a typical round, and the Tour Rodz sticks are equally at home on the practice green as they are on the driving range. Use the sticks to create a chipping gate that encourages a straight-back, straight-through motion and prevents unwanted wrist action. On the putting green, the sticks provide a visual alignment guide to ensure your putter face is aimed correctly, and a path guide to promote a consistent stroke. Regularly practising these drills with the Tour Rodz sticks sharpens your feel and touch around the greens, which is where most handicap shots are saved.
Instructional Booklet Included
To help you get the most out of the Tour Rodz sticks from day one, Longridge includes a comprehensive instructional booklet with every set. The booklet walks you through a variety of drills covering all the key areas of the game — alignment, ball position, swing plane, tempo, chipping, and putting. Each exercise is clearly explained and illustrated, making it easy to follow along even if you have never used alignment sticks before. Whether you are a beginner looking to build solid fundamentals or an experienced player looking to iron out a specific fault, the booklet provides a structured pathway to improvement.
