Masters Golf Extension Piece For Graphite Shafts
Masters Golf Extension Piece For Graphite Shafts
Masters Golf Extension Piece For Graphite Shafts
Extending any golf club to the perfect playing length is quick and straightforward with the Masters Golf Graphite Shaft Extender in Standard size. This single-use plastic extension piece is designed for golfers and club-builders who need to add length to a graphite-shafted club without replacing the shaft entirely. Whether you are customising a club to suit a taller player or salvaging a shaft that has been trimmed too short, this extender delivers a reliable, permanent solution using standard epoxy adhesive.
Key Features
- Standard Size: Designed for graphite shafts with a standard (thicker) inner wall diameter.
- 5-Inch Length: Each extender measures 5 inches, providing generous material to trim to your exact required length.
- Single-Use Design: One piece extends one club — order one extender per club you wish to lengthen.
- Epoxy Installation: Secured permanently with standard golf-club epoxy adhesive (sold separately) for a strong, lasting bond.
- Trim to Length: Once the epoxy has fully cured, simply cut the extender to your desired playing length using a shaft-cutting tool.
- Plastic Construction: Lightweight plastic material keeps added weight minimal and maintains club balance.
- Compatible with Most Graphite Shafts: Most graphite shafts have a butt diameter of .600" — measure your shaft's inside diameter before ordering to confirm the correct size.
How to Install
Measure Your Shaft
Before installation, measure the inside diameter (ID) of the shaft's butt end. Most graphite shafts have a .600" outer diameter, but the inner diameter varies depending on wall thickness. The Standard extender is made for shafts with a standard, thicker inner wall. If in doubt, take the club to a club-fitting professional who can measure with calipers.
Apply Epoxy & Insert
Mix a suitable golf-club epoxy adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply the epoxy to the ribbed or fluted section of the extender — the grooves help the epoxy fill evenly and create a strong mechanical bond. Slowly rotate the extender as you slide it into the butt end of the shaft to ensure full epoxy coverage.
Cure & Cut
Wipe away any excess epoxy and allow the bond to fully cure — typically 24 hours for standard golf epoxy, though follow the instructions of your specific adhesive. Once cured, cut the extender down to the desired playing length using a shaft-cutting tool or pipe cutter. Finish by re-gripping the club as normal.
Important Length Warning
Extending a graphite shaft by more than 2 inches can negatively affect the shaft's flex profile and structural integrity, increasing the risk of breakage during the swing. For best results and safety, keep extensions to 2 inches or less. The Oversize variant of this extender is also available for shafts with a thinner inner wall — confirm your shaft's ID before ordering.
Standard vs. Oversize — Choosing the Right Extender
Masters Golf offers this graphite shaft extender in two variants to cover the full range of graphite shafts on the market:
- Standard (this product): Suitable for graphite shafts with a standard, thicker inner wall — the most common type of graphite shaft construction.
- Oversize (separate product): Suitable for graphite shafts with a thinner inner wall (lighter, ultralight constructions). The Oversize variant is the more commonly used option when working with modern lightweight graphite shafts.
Because shaft inner diameters are not always published by manufacturers, it is strongly recommended to measure the inside diameter of your shaft's butt end with a caliper — or have it measured by a professional club-fitter — before placing your order.
