Technology in Detail

SofFOAM Maximum Cushioning

SofFOAM technology represents FootJoy's most plush and resilient midsole cushioning to date. Engineered specifically for golfers who spend several hours on their feet, it delivers maximum energy absorption with every step. The foam compound is designed not to pack out over time, meaning the cushioning remains consistent throughout the life of the shoe. Whether you are walking 18 holes or practising on the range, SofFOAM keeps fatigue at bay and ensures you stay focused on your game.

Premium Leather & Coated Mesh Upper

The Quantum BOA combines buttery-soft premium leather with a high-performance coated mesh to create an upper that is both luxurious in feel and technical in function. The leather panels contribute to a refined look and a supple, broken-in feel from the very first wear, while the coated mesh sections maximise breathability and adaptive fit. Together, they provide a modern athletic aesthetic alongside 100% waterproof protection, so your feet stay dry in any course conditions.

OrthoLite EcoPlush Fit-Bed®

The full-length OrthoLite EcoPlush Fit-Bed® insole provides a cushioned and supportive base for your foot throughout the entire round. OrthoLite foam is specifically formulated to resist compression — it does not pack down or lose its shape over time, which means the level of underfoot cushioning you experience on day one is the same cushioning you will enjoy throughout the shoe's lifespan. This sustainable, high-rebound foam also contributes to reduced environmental impact without compromising performance.

Versatile Multi-Pattern Traction

The spikeless outsole of the Quantum BOA features an array of multiple lug shapes and patterns strategically positioned across the underfoot area. This design targets the specific swing forces encountered at address, backswing, and follow-through in various stances and on different surfaces — from closely mown fairways to paths around the clubhouse. The result is reliable grip during your swing without sacrificing the walkability that makes this shoe equally comfortable off the course.

Flex Last Construction

FootJoy's Flex Last construction gives the Quantum BOA a fully rounded toe box that works in harmony with the natural shape of the foot. The last provides a complete and comfortable fit across the entire forefoot and over the instep, eliminating any pressure points that can cause discomfort during a long round. A built-in toe spring encourages a smooth, natural gait, while the slightly tapered heel keeps the silhouette sleek and the fit secure — rounding out the shoe's performance-oriented athletic profile.

BOA® Fit System

The BOA® Fit System is a modern closure solution developed collaboratively by FootJoy and BOA® Technology that replaces traditional shoelaces with a precision dial, a stainless-steel lace, and low-friction guides. A simple turn of the dial tightens the shoe quickly, evenly, and precisely across the entire foot. The heel-mounted design delivers an effective "down and back" fit that secures both the forefoot and the heel simultaneously, providing the precision, stability, and power transfer that performance golf demands. A reverse turn of the dial releases the system instantly for easy on and off.
