The Ping Scottsdale Anser 4 Putter is a precision-engineered blade putter built for players who play with a strong-arc stroke. Part of PING's all-new 2025 Scottsdale family, the Anser 4 inherits the legendary Anser's heel-toe weighting and clean alignment heritage while pairing it with an H4 hosel specifically designed to assist a more pronounced arc through impact. A one-piece PEBAX elastomer face insert — a material borrowed from high-performance athletic footwear — frees up discretionary weight to boost MOI, delivering a softer feel, pleasing acoustics, and consistent ball speeds across the entire face. Available in right- and left-hand configurations and three length options (33", 34", 35"), the Anser 4 ships with a head cover included.
At the core of every Scottsdale model is a one-piece PEBAX elastomer insert — a high-performance polymer long used in the soles of premium athletic shoes for its elastic energy-return properties. PING reformulated the PEBAX compound for 2025, making it softer than in previous generations and extending it across the full face for consistent performance from heel to toe. Because PEBAX is approximately 20 percent lighter than comparable face materials, it frees up meaningful discretionary weight that PING engineers can redistribute toward the perimeter to raise MOI and improve stability. The result is a putter face that feels quiet and pleasing at impact, rolls the ball consistently regardless of where contact is made on the face, and remains unaffected by temperature extremes — an important advantage for golfers who play in varying climates.
The Anser 4 is distinguished from the standard Anser by its H4 flow neck hosel, which creates a deeper toe hang than the classic plumber's neck. Toe hang is the angle at which the putter face drops toward the ground when the shaft is balanced on a finger, and greater toe hang naturally assists players whose putting stroke follows a more pronounced arc through the ball. The H4 configuration ensures the face returns square at impact for strong-arc players, promoting a more consistent, repeatable motion round after round. PING has used this approach across its putter family for years, fine-tuning each hosel variant to match a specific stroke arc so that every golfer can be fitted to the geometry that suits their natural movement on the greens.
Inheriting one of the most enduring design philosophies in golf, the Anser 4 places strategic mass at the heel and toe of the head. This heel-toe weighting raises the Moment of Inertia (MOI) — the putter's resistance to twisting when the ball is struck away from the sweet spot. A higher MOI means that even mishits travel closer to the intended distance and direction, making the putter more forgiving without sacrificing the clean, blade-style look that better players demand. The large face-insert cavity further assists this goal: by keeping the PEBAX insert lightweight, additional weight is freed up and pushed further out toward the perimeter, allowing the Scottsdale Anser 4 to achieve an MOI that is measurably higher than similarly shaped milled alternatives.
The Scottsdale Anser 4 features a striking two-tone finish that serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. A contrasting black nickel finish on the top rail creates a clean, premium appearance at address while the colour difference between the top rail and the matte-black PVD back cavity naturally draws the eye to the front of the putter for faster, more accurate alignment. A white sight line set in the back cavity gives an additional reference point, further simplifying the process of squaring the face to the target line. The Anser 4 retains the classic Anser's visual symmetry and soft ballasts, with slightly less-rounded back corners that give the head its own distinct personality without straying from the iconic silhouette players recognise and trust.
Every Scottsdale model ships with the Tour-validated SuperStroke Tour 2.0 PT Blue as the standard grip — a classic pistol-shaped grip widely trusted by Tour professionals and serious amateurs alike. Its reduced taper design delivers a consistent feel from the top of the grip to the bottom, preventing the hands from gripping unevenly and reducing tension through the stroke. The result is a calmer, more stable putting motion with improved distance control. The pistol shaping accommodates a wide range of hand sizes and grip styles, making it a versatile, performance-first choice that complements the Anser 4's strong-arc design philosophy perfectly.
The Scottsdale Anser 4 is offered in three standard lengths — 33", 34", and 35" — to ensure a proper address posture for a wide range of golfer heights. Standard length is 35". Both right-hand and left-hand versions are available across all three lengths, making the Anser 4 one of the more inclusive options in the Scottsdale family for left-handed players. Each putter is paired with the chrome stepless steel shaft, which contributes to the clean visual profile of the club while providing the consistent through-swing feel required for reliable distance control on the greens.
