The next chapter in the P-Series story is written by the all-new P-790 irons, a model that created a category of its own. P-790 irons deliver the consistent distance golfers crave, a premium forged feel, and a larger sweet spot with improved gapping, so you can attack more pins. The 2025 P790 is built for players with a handicap of roughly 5 to 15 who want a combination of distance, forgiveness, and premium feel at impact, without sacrificing control over the ball.
A hollow-body construction filled with SpeedFoam Air, a reworked mass distribution, and a thin, variable-thickness face give the P790 explosive ball speed and a solid, forged feel on every strike. This graphite-shafted version is the ideal choice for players who prefer lighter equipment and a smoother tempo through the swing. The set is supplied as 6 irons, typically 5 iron to pitching wedge, though configuration can vary.
The 2025 P790 introduces an all-new, ultra-high-strength, high-speed forged 4340M face that is 20 percent stronger than the material used in the previous generation. The extra strength allows for a thinner face, faster ball speeds, and a sweet spot up to 24 percent larger than the earlier P790 7-iron. A variable-thickness, Thru-Slot face design adds even more coefficient of restitution across the hitting area, so mis-hits keep their speed too.
TaylorMade engineers optimised every head individually and injected ultra-lightweight SpeedFoam Air into the hollow cavity behind the face. The foam softens impact feel and dampens unwanted vibration without adding weight, giving the 2025 P790 the best forged feel of any P790 to date, along with the solid, muted sound players expect from a true forged iron.
FLTD CG positions the centre of gravity progressively through the set: lower in the long irons for an easier, higher launch and more carry distance, and higher in the short irons for a more penetrating flight and greater control into the green. Paired with head-by-head optimisation and a faster face, it keeps gapping consistent from the 4-iron down to the wedges.
A thinner top line gives the new P790 a cleaner, more confident look at address without giving up the forgiveness the P790 line is known for. An enlarged sole radius and a progressive leading edge improve turf interaction through impact, helping the head glide cleanly through the turf on a wide range of lies and swing types.
