The 2025 Cobra KING Wedge represents the latest evolution in Cobra Golf's short-game lineup, engineered from 8620 steel using Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology to deliver exceptional precision, a consistently soft feel, and tour-level spin control. Designed for male golfers who demand versatility and performance around the greens, the KING Wedge is available in a full loft range from 48° to 60°, paired with the premium True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner Tour Issue steel shaft in Stiff flex. Four distinct sole grinds — DROP, WIDELOW, VERSATILE, and TOUR — ensure there is a configuration perfectly matched to every swing type, attack angle, and course condition.
Every 2025 Cobra KING Wedge head is manufactured from 8620 steel via a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) process that offers approximately 50% tighter tolerances than traditional cast wedges. During production, each head is heat-treated to nearly 1,400 °C (2,500 °F), which produces a tighter grain structure throughout the material. The result is a more uniform head construction, a noticeably softer feel at impact, and grooves that resist wear for longer-lasting spin performance round after round.
Flight Window Technology positions the center of gravity (CG) at a specific height for each loft in the lineup: low CG for 48–52° wedges produces a higher, softer-landing ball flight; mid CG for 54–56° balances trajectory and stopping power; high CG for 58–60° generates a more penetrating, lower flight with maximum spin. This loft-specific CG optimization means that every wedge in the set is individually tuned to deliver optimal launch conditions and shot control for its intended role in the bag.
Progressive Spin Technology fine-tunes groove dimensions, spacing, and geometry across the entire loft range of the KING Wedge. Lower-lofted wedges feature groove designs optimized for clean contact and controlled trajectory on full shots, while higher-lofted wedges carry grooves engineered to maximize bite and spin rate on shorter, finesse shots around the green. The net effect is a cohesive set of wedges where each club provides the appropriate spin and flight characteristics for its specific loft and yardage window.
Cobra's iconic Speed Notch — the relief channel machined into the sole — has been completely redesigned for 2025 and is now 67% larger than in previous models. The new version features a softer, more blended shaping that complements each of the four sole grinds without disrupting their bounce or camber profiles. This larger notch ensures a smooth, low-resistance glide through the turf at impact, helping the clubhead maintain speed through the hitting zone and delivering high-spinning shots even from challenging lies in light rough or tight fairway lies.
The 2025 KING Wedge range offers four professionally designed sole grinds, each tailored to a specific swing type, attack angle, and playing condition. Choosing the right grind is as important as selecting the correct loft — the grind directly influences how the sole interacts with the turf and how versatile the wedge is for creative shot-making around the green.
A medium-width sole with high bounce (up to 12°) and minimal trailing-edge relief. The DROP Grind is designed for players with a steeper angle of attack who take a deeper divot, and for use in softer turf conditions where more bounce is needed to prevent the leading edge from digging. It is best suited for full-swing shots and longer pitch shots, providing confidence and consistency when playing from soft fairways, light rough, and soft bunkers. Available in 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, and 60° (RH only).
A wide, low-bounce sole (4°–7° depending on loft) designed specifically for soft bunkers, fluffy lies, and playing surfaces that call for a sole that slides beneath the ball rather than digging. The WIDELOW Grind's broader sole footprint provides exceptional stability and prevents the leading edge from catching, making it the ideal choice for opening the face on high lob shots and splash bunker play. Available in 56°, 58°, and 60° (RH only).
As the name suggests, the VERSATILE Grind is the all-conditions, all-swing-types option in the KING lineup. It features heel and toe relief that allows the face to be opened or closed for creative shot-shaping, while the moderate bounce caters to players with a neutral to shallow angle of attack. The V Grind performs equally well from tight lies, fairways, light rough, and bunkers, making it the most popular choice for golfers who want one wedge that handles any situation. Available in 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, and 60° (RH and LH).
Co-developed with Cobra's tour staff, the TOUR Grind is the most specialized option in the lineup — a true shot-maker's wedge. It features aggressive heel, toe, and trailing-edge relief combined with a scalloped back cavity, providing maximum face-angle versatility for players who routinely open and manipulate the clubface for flop shots, chips, and high-spin greenside play. Best suited for firm conditions and players with a shallow, precise attack angle and superior clubface control. Available in 58° and 60° (RH only).
