The Garmin Approach S72 is the brand's most advanced golf smartwatch ever, packing a brilliant 1.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen into a refined 43 mm titanium and sapphire case that sits comfortably on smaller wrists without ever getting in the way of your swing. Designed equally for the fairway and everyday life, it delivers on-wrist swing metrics, real-time golf biometric data, and a preloaded library of 43,000+ courses worldwide. Off the course it doubles as a full-featured health smartwatch with a built-in speaker and microphone — a first for any Garmin golf watch — plus Garmin Pay, an LED flashlight, and up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode.
For the first time on a Garmin golf watch, the Approach S72 merges biometric data with your scorecard. Real-time wrist-based heart rate is recorded shot by shot, so post-round you can review exactly how your physiology tracked with each birdie, bogey, and bogey-avoided moment. Simultaneously, the built-in IMU captures on-wrist swing metrics — hand speed, backswing length, and wrist rotation — giving you tangible measurements to work with rather than relying on feel alone.
With over 43,000 courses preloaded, the S72 displays full-colour hole layouts complete with hazards, distances to the front, middle, and back of the green, and PlaysLike yardages that account for slope. Aerial imagery provides a real-world overhead view of each hole to aid lay-up planning and shot shaping. Virtual Caddie analyses your game history and current conditions to recommend the right club for every shot.
With an active Garmin Golf Membership, the watch displays contour data for select greens — showing the direction putts will break and the average slope percentage — making aim-point selection faster and more precise. Post-round putting analytics available in the Garmin Golf app include speed bias, direction bias, and make rate so your putting practice has measurable targets.
A dedicated Driving Range activity mode logs your practice sessions directly in Garmin Connect, so range time counts toward your daily fitness totals and activity history. Off the course, the S72 tracks wrist-based heart rate, SpO2 (pulse oximetry), stress levels, HRV status, Body Battery energy monitoring, sleep score with personalised coaching, and VO2 max — giving you the same health stack found in Garmin's flagship multisport watches.
The Approach S72 is Garmin's first golf smartwatch with a built-in speaker and microphone, enabling hands-free phone calls and voice commands when paired with an Apple or Android smartphone. A multi-intensity LED flashlight offers both variable white light and a red-light mode — handy for early morning tee times or late twilight finishes.
The 43 mm case is framed in lightweight titanium and protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass, while the pebble grey ComfortFit fabric band keeps the watch secure and sweat-free through 18 holes. Multi-band GPS delivers highly accurate positioning, and Garmin Pay enables contactless payments at supported retailers. The watch syncs with the Garmin Golf and Garmin Connect apps and supports Connect IQ apps, watch faces, and widgets.
