Description

PING G430 MAX men's driver

PING took one of the game's most forgiving drivers — and one of the longest — and made it even longer, while giving the G430 a more pleasing sound at impact. An innovative face-design optimisation leads to increased flexing for a significant distance gain, and a 25-gram moveable backweight positions the centre of gravity to influence shot shape. Available in 9°, 10.5° and 12°.

The PING G430 MAX is the most versatile driver in the G430 family, building on the legendary G400 and G425 models. It delivers the highest MOI (moment of inertia) in the entire G430 range, meaning off-centre strikes remain surprisingly long and accurate. This is the ideal head for golfers who want maximum forgiveness, a stable ball flight, and easy adjustability — covering everyone from recreational players to competitive amateurs.

Key Features

  • Highest MOI in the G430 Family: The MAX head shape delivers the greatest moment of inertia in the G430 lineup, keeping off-centre shots straighter and longer than ever before.
  • Optimised T9S+ Forged Face: A shallower, thinner face with variable thickness and a refined transition design creates more flex across the face, producing higher ball speeds and the largest distance gains PING has achieved.
  • Spinsistency: A variable roll radius reduces loft on the lower portion of the face, decreasing spin on thin strikes to deliver higher ball speed and consistently longer drives.
  • 25 g Moveable Tungsten Backweight: The adjustable high-density tungsten weight slides to shift the CG, enabling Draw, Neutral, and Fade settings that can influence shot shape by up to ±8 yards.
  • Trajectory Tuning 2.0 Hosel: A lightweight, aerodynamic hosel sleeve offers eight positions to fine-tune loft (±1.5°) and lie angle (up to 3° flatter than standard) for optimal trajectory and distance.
  • Sound Engineering: Research into audio frequencies led engineers to a new internal rib structure and increased crown and sole stiffness, producing a solid, satisfying sound and feel at impact.
  • Aerodynamic Crown with Turbulators: Enhanced head aerodynamics with characteristic crown turbulators help increase clubhead speed through the downswing without requiring any swing change.
  • G430 MAX HL (High Launch) Build: A lighter system — 11 g backweight, PING ALTA Quick shaft, and Lamkin UTx grip — delivers more ball speed for slower-swing-speed players, adding an average of approximately 8 metres from the tee. Available in MAX and SFT variants only.
  • Available for Right- and Left-Handed Golfers: All loft options are offered in both right-hand (MRH) and left-hand (MLH) configurations.

Technology in Detail

Optimised T9S+ Forged Face

The G430 MAX face is forged from PING's high-strength T9S+ titanium alloy — one of the most elastic face materials in the game. A shallower, thinner profile with variable face thickness (VFT) and an updated transition design work together to save weight while generating significantly more flex at impact. The result is elevated ball speeds across a larger portion of the face, delivering the greatest distance gains PING has ever produced in a driver. Even mishits away from the sweet spot benefit from the increased flexibility built into the face architecture.

Sound Engineering

PING engineers conducted extensive research into audio frequencies and harmonic resonance to redesign the G430 MAX from the inside out. The result is a new internal rib structure combined with increased curvature and stiffness across the crown, skirt, and sole. This structural engineering work targets a specific, desirable impact sound — the firm, confident crack that golfers associate with a well-struck drive. The experience is both acoustic and tactile, giving players immediate feedback that the shot has been hit flush.

Spinsistency

New to the G430 driver family, Spinsistency is a proprietary face-roll technology that introduces a variable roll radius across the face surface. This engineering decision reduces effective loft in the lower portion of the face — the area most commonly struck by golfers who hit the ball slightly thin. By lowering spin on these impacts, the G430 MAX converts what would otherwise be weak, ballooning shots into penetrating, higher-speed ball flights. The outcome is more consistent distance shot after shot, regardless of where on the face contact is made.

Extreme Forgiveness — 25 g Moveable Backweight

To optimise ball flight and maximise distance while preserving the highest MOI in PING's history, the G430 MAX features a 25-gram high-density tungsten backweight that slides along a track in the rear of the sole. Repositioning the weight shifts the centre of gravity, allowing golfers to choose between Draw, Neutral, and Fade bias settings. This CG shift can influence shot shape by up to ±8 yards (approximately ±7 metres), making it possible to counteract a persistent slice, promote a gentle draw, or dial in a neutral flight — all without changing the swing. It's the most powerful and accessible fitting tool on the club.

Trajectory Tuning 2.0 — Adjust Loft & Lie

The Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel sleeve is a lightweight, aerodynamic component that provides eight distinct positions for fine-tuning trajectory. Loft can be adjusted by ±1.5°, while lie angle can be set up to 3° flatter than the standard setting — giving fitters and self-fitters precise control over launch angle and shot shape. The eight-position system means a single G430 MAX head can be matched to a very wide range of swing characteristics. The sleeve adds minimal weight penalty while the aerodynamic shaping ensures no drag penalty through the downswing.

Shaft Recommendations by Swing Speed

Fast swing speed (approx. 100+ mph / HCP ~0–12) seeking low spin and tight dispersion: We recommend the PING Tour 2.0 Black 65 (Stiff or X-Stiff) or the PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 (Stiff). These heavier shafts keep spin under control and deliver a penetrating, workable ball flight.

Mid swing speed (approx. 90–100 mph / HCP ~10–20) seeking a blend of distance and forgiveness: We recommend the PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 (Regular or Stiff depending on feel preference) or the PING ALTA CB Black 55. The Chrome 65 offers a mid launch with good control; the Alta CB Black adds a touch more height and forgiveness.

Slower swing speed (below ~90 mph) seeking easy launch and maximum carry: We recommend the PING ALTA CB Black 55 as the go-to choice, or the PING ALTA Quick in the HL configuration for the lightest possible total weight and highest ball flight.

1. Competitive/sport player — fast swing (100+ mph): PING Tour 2.0 Black 65 Stiff. If the ball flight is too low, move to the Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 Stiff for a touch more launch.
2. Mid-level amateur (swing ~90–100 mph): Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 (Regular or Stiff) based on feel preference. For more easy launch, try the Alta CB Black 55.
3. Slower/recreational player (swing below ~85 mph): Alta CB Black 55 as the default starting point, or step into the HL build with the PING ALTA Quick for even more height and distance.
