The PING G440 MAX is the most forgiving driver in the G440 lineup, built for players who want maximum tolerance on off-center strikes without sacrificing distance. A stronger, thinner face boosts ball speed, while a lighter overall head and shaft combination help generate faster clubhead speed, a higher launch, and longer carry.
The Free Hosel design and an ultra-light Carbonfly Wrap crown save weight that is repositioned low in the head, creating the lowest center of gravity in PING driver history. The result is greater forgiveness on mis-hits and a more muted, pleasing sound at impact.
Weight removed from part of the hosel is redistributed lower in the head, creating the lowest center of gravity in PING driver history. Positioning the CG closer to the face's power line helps generate more ball speed and distance while adding forgiveness on shots struck low on the face. This is one of the biggest contributors to the G440 MAX's extra carry and roll-out compared with earlier G-series drivers. The saved hosel weight also frees up mass elsewhere in the head for further CG tuning.
A lower face height allows for a thinner, stronger face that increases ball speed and consistency across the entire hitting area, including strikes high on the heel. The thinner construction flexes more efficiently at impact, widening the effective sweet zone so off-center hits lose less ball speed than on previous models. The result is more consistent carry distance across a wider range of swing speeds and strike locations.
The carbon-composite Carbonfly Wrap crown saves significant weight compared with a traditional titanium crown. That saved mass is repositioned lower and further back in the head to help lower the CG, improve forgiveness, and add stability on off-center hits. As a side benefit, the composite crown also produces a more muted, solid sound and feel at impact than an all-titanium design.
A 29-gram rear weight can be set to Draw, Fade, or Neutral, giving golfers a simple way to influence shot shape and trajectory without changing their swing. The Draw setting encourages a right-to-left ball flight for right-handed golfers, helping players who fight a slice find more fairways, while Fade biases flight the other way for players who prefer to shape shots left to right. The Neutral position centers the CG for maximum all-round forgiveness.
The lightweight, 8-position adjustable hosel allows loft to be adjusted by up to ±1.5° and lie angle up to 3° flatter than standard. This makes it possible to fine-tune launch angle, spin, and overall ball flight after purchase rather than being locked into one static setting. Because the mechanism is engineered to stay light, it does not add unwanted weight high in the head, protecting the low, forward CG the rest of the design is built around.
Every G440 MAX driver ships with a shaft engineered by PING specifically for the head. The counter-balanced Alta CB Blue is the lightest option, built to increase clubhead speed for players with a mid-to-high launch. Tour 2.0 Black is tuned for a low launch and low spin that suits faster swing speeds, while Tour 2.0 Chrome delivers a low-to-mid ball flight with added control and precision.

These are design specifications and may vary due to manufacturing tolerances. Standard length is based on the Alta CB Blue 50 shaft. Standard length with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome or Black, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K, or Project X Denali Red shafts is 45 1/2". Standard swingweight with the Project X Denali Red 60 shaft is 1 point higher than standard. Standard swingweight with the Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65 shaft is 2 points higher than standard. Standard swingweight for the HL (High-Launch) build with the Alta Quick shaft is D2 in 35 flex and D3 in 45 flex; standard length for the HL build is 46". Lie angle is the average of the five adjustable loft positions marked on the hosel. Available in right-handed and left-handed models.
