The next chapter of the P-Series story begins with the all-new P790 irons, a design that has created its own category. Built for golfers chasing consistent, predictable distance, the P790 pairs a premium forged feel with a larger sweet spot and improved gapping, so you can attack more pins with confidence.
The 2025 P790 suits players with roughly a 5 to 15 handicap who want a genuine blend of distance, forgiveness and premium feel, without giving up control over the ball flight. Refined shaping and the latest TaylorMade technology combine to deliver serious performance without asking you to sacrifice shot-making control.
The 2025 P790 introduces an all-new, ultra-high-strength, high-speed forged 4340M face material that is 20% stronger than the material used in the previous generation. That added strength lets engineers build a noticeably thinner face, which increases ball speed and grows the sweet spot by up to 24% compared with the 2023 P790 7-iron. The result is more forgiveness and more usable distance on mishits, not just on center-face strikes.
Every head in the set is individually optimized and finished with SpeedFoam Air, an ultra-lightweight foam injected into the hollow body directly behind the face. The foam supports the thin forged face without robbing it of speed, making this the best-feeling P790 to date. It also dampens unwanted vibration at impact, so mishits feel cleaner and the strike sound stays solid and premium.
Center of gravity is positioned differently through the set: lower and further back in the long irons for an easy, high launch, and progressively higher in the short irons for greater control and workability. Combined with the faster 4340M face, this flighted CG delivers longer carry distances with well-optimized launch and spin windows. The result is tighter, more consistent gapping from the top of the set to the bottom.
The new P790 wears a thinner top line for a cleaner look in the address position, building confidence before every swing. An enlarged sole radius and a progressive leading edge improve turf interaction through the set, so the club glides consistently through a variety of lies. Together, these refinements keep the classic P-Series player shaping that better ball-strikers expect.
