Speed, distance, and control come together in a players' iron design. PING i540 irons are a modern players distance iron: the compact look of a traditional players' head combined with technology built for maximum ball speed and added length. They are the ideal choice for golfers who want longer shots without compromising accuracy or feel, delivering consistent, predictable results shot after shot.
Best suited for:
The i540 features a forged maraging steel face of variable thickness, engineered thinner in key areas to increase flex. This produces a metal-wood-like bending effect at impact for higher ball speeds and a taller trajectory. The result is more distance without sacrificing the compact players' shape golfers expect from this category.

This patent-pending technology places an air pocket strategically behind the face, inside the cavity. It dampens specific frequencies at impact, improving sound and feel without limiting how much the face can flex. Golfers get a softer, more solid sensation at contact while the face still delivers its full speed benefit.

Weight savings elsewhere in the head make room for tungsten weights along the sole of the 4- through 7-irons. Positioning this dense material low in the head lowers the centre of gravity, which increases ball speed and launch angle. The higher launch also helps shots land and stop with more control.

A metal-wood-inspired construction adds a beam that runs across the cavity, reinforcing the 17-4 stainless steel body. This structural brace adds stiffness exactly where it is needed, further improving sound and feel at impact while keeping the head strong through repeated use.

A compact, confidence-inspiring head shape with a narrow sole and thin top line gives better players the look they expect at address. That smaller profile still delivers control over distance and trajectory, with a maximum height that helps shots hold the green.

The stock steel shaft, True Temper Dynamic Gold Mid 100, produces a medium launch and spin with a stable, consistent feel at impact. A graphite option, PING ALTA CB Blue, is lighter and counter-balanced for a mid-high to high launch, giving players a choice that matches their swing and preferred ball flight.

Design specifications may vary due to manufacturing tolerances.
Lie angle is stated for standard length with the black colour code (BLACK).
Bounce may vary slightly on clubs ordered with non-standard loft specifications.
Standard swingweight values on graphite-shafted clubs run 2 to 3 points lower than the figures shown, depending on shaft flex.
Achievable swingweight depends on the shaft and grip combination.
Available in both right-handed and left-handed versions.
Shaft weights shown are based on the trimmed length of a 7-iron and may not match the shaft manufacturer's published specifications.

The i540 is also available through PING's loft fitting program. Power Spec Loft is built to boost distance and reduce spin, while Retro Spec Loft prioritises precision and a higher trajectory with extra stopping power, including support for a 3-wedge setup.
