A new spin on forgiveness. The Callaway CB 12 (2025) combines the best of two worlds: the forgiving architecture of a cavity back wedge with the classic look and shot-making control of a tour-inspired design. Engineered for golfers who want reliable short-game performance, the CB 12 delivers consistent contact and confidence even on off-centre strikes — all in a shape that inspires trust at address. Whether you are chipping from tight lies, pitching to tight pins, or escaping bunkers, the CB 12 is built to make your short game easier and more consistent.
Available in six loft options from 50° to 60° for both right-handed and left-handed players, the CB 12 comes stock with the KBS Hi-Rev 3.0 115g steel shaft in Wedge flex and the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Green Cap CHEV grip.
The CB 12 features a larger head, a thicker topline, and a deep cavity back construction that moves mass to the perimeter of the clubhead. This positioning of 12 grams of weight around the perimeter maximises forgiveness across the full face, especially compared to a traditional muscleback wedge. The result is noticeably improved stability on mishits — the face stays square through impact even when the ball is struck away from the sweet spot. The thicker topline and larger profile also create a confidence-inspiring look at address, making it easier to commit to every shot around the green.
Unlike most wide-soled wedges that trade versatility for forgiveness, the CB 12’s Tri-Sole design delivers both simultaneously. Comprising three unique sole geometries, the Tri-Sole creates the ideal amount of effective bounce and leading-edge relief based on your setup position and face angle. This means you can execute anything from a standard chip to a bump-and-run or an open-faced flop shot without the club digging or skating through the turf uncontrollably. The wide sole also glides smoothly through sand, making bunker play far more forgiving and predictable.
Callaway equips the CB 12 with the same OPUS groove platform found on their flagship player-focused Opus wedges. The grooves feature a tighter pitch and a 37° wall angle combined with an aggressive face blast texture, generating tour-level spin and control. This groove setup is specifically engineered to maintain performance in wet conditions or from heavy rough, ensuring the ball bites and stops consistently regardless of the lie. Whether you are attacking a front pin or escaping a tricky greenside lie, the OPUS grooves make it easier to control trajectory and spin with confidence.
Integrated urethane microspheres are built into the face structure of the CB 12 to absorb and filter unwanted vibrations at the moment of impact. This technology delivers the soft, responsive feel you would expect from a premium wedge, while ensuring that important feedback is still transmitted through the shaft and into your hands. The microspheres work independently of the groove system, meaning feel is enhanced without any compromise to the spin-generating performance of the face. The result is a wedge that feels as good as it performs — with crisp, confidence-inspiring feedback on every shot.
The CB 12’s chamfered leading edge is precision-engineered to resist digging into firm turf or tight lies. By removing material from the leading edge in a controlled, gradual taper, Callaway ensures the club glides cleanly through the hitting zone rather than catching and decelerating. This is especially important on chip shots from closely mown areas and pitch shots from hard fairways, where a sharp leading edge would cause fat contact. The chamfer works in harmony with the Tri-Sole’s wide sole to make the CB 12 exceptionally turf-friendly from every type of lie.
Despite its forgiving cavity back construction, the CB 12 is styled with a tour-inspired head shape that appeals to players who care about aesthetics and confidence at address. The classic profile — clean lines, a refined sole, and a compact-looking head from the player’s perspective — does not betray its forgiving nature. This makes the CB 12 an excellent choice for mid-to-high handicap players who want more consistency in the short game without giving up the look of a more skilled player’s wedge. It also pairs visually with cavity back iron sets for a seamless, cohesive setup.
