Very few times in club design can you say a true barrier has been broken. The Callaway Opus Platinum Chrome Wedge is a genuine leap forward in wedge technology, fusing the precision of Metal Injection Molding (MiM) construction with tungsten launch control to deliver the ultimate in short-game performance. MiM construction opens the door for Callaway to achieve wedge-building precision like never before, dialling in touch and feel exactly where players need it most. A bonded tungsten weight positioned high in the topline naturally lowers ball flight for greater control and spin into greens — making this the most advanced wedge in Callaway's history.
The Callaway Opus Platinum Chrome Wedge is engineered using Metal Injection Molding (MiM) — a process that injects a proprietary blend of metals directly into the head shape, enabling tighter tolerances and more precise control of performance characteristics than either forging or casting can achieve. This cutting-edge manufacturing process allows Callaway to fine-tune weight distribution, density, and material properties within the head to an unprecedented degree of accuracy. The result is a wedge that delivers a premium, soft feel at impact — closer to what players expect from a high-end forged product — while maintaining exceptional consistency across every unit produced. MiM construction also facilitates the seamless integration of the tungsten topline weight, ensuring the two materials work in perfect harmony. This is the first time Callaway has utilised MiM technology in a wedge, and the Opus Platinum is the definitive expression of what that innovation makes possible.
A 17-gram tungsten weight is bonded high into the topline of the Opus Platinum head, strategically raising the centre of gravity. This elevated CG position causes the ball to naturally launch lower than a standard wedge, producing a more penetrating, controlled trajectory that makes it easier to hold greens under pressure. Greater height control translates directly into more predictable distances and tighter dispersion on approach shots. For players who tend to launch their short irons and wedges too high — especially from firm, fast conditions — the Opus Platinum's lower ball flight is a genuine performance advantage. The tungsten integration also boosts spin rates into greens, giving tour-calibre stopping power without sacrificing the soft, responsive feel that makes wedge play rewarding.
Spin Gen Face Technology delivers outstanding spin and control by combining three distinct face elements that work in conjunction. First, an all-new tighter groove pitch places more grooves on the face — meaning more groove edges are in contact with the ball at impact, channelling moisture and debris away and biting into the cover for maximum friction. Second, an offset groove-in-groove design generates additional spin specifically when the face is opened, a crucial advantage for flop shots and high, soft lobs around the green. Third, a new aggressive face blast treatment increases surface friction, providing excellent spin and bite on partial shots where groove engagement is reduced. Together these three elements produce crisp, reliable, tour-level spin from every part of the face, whether hitting a full-swing approach, a delicate pitch, or a creative recovery shot.
The Opus Platinum wedges represent the most Tour-tested and Tour-validated head shapes in Callaway's entire history. Working closely with Callaway's tour staff, designers refined every contour of the head to meet the exacting standards of the world's best players. A higher toe peak gives the club a classic, confidence-inspiring profile at address, while a radius in the leading edge makes it easier to position the face behind the ball precisely. Smoother hosel transitions further enhance the visual appeal and allow for consistent, repeatable setups. These are not cosmetic refinements alone — each design decision translates into functional advantages during play, including better turf interaction and improved versatility from a wide range of lies and course conditions. The Opus Platinum Chrome is simply Callaway's finest-ever wedge shape.

The S-Grind is the versatile, do-it-all sole option suited to a wide range of playing styles and course conditions. Available with 10° or 12° of bounce across the 54°, 56°, 58°, and 60° lofts, the S-Grind performs consistently from the fairway, rough, and bunker. The moderate sole width and standard camber make it an excellent choice for players seeking a dependable, all-conditions sand and gap wedge.
The Z-Grind is exclusive to the Opus Platinum and is designed as a friendly low-bounce option for players who prefer to open the face and play creative shots around the green. With 8° or 10° of bounce and relief near the leading edge, the Z-Grind glides through firm turf and tight lies with ease. It is similar in character to a C-Grind but less extreme, giving it broader appeal for players who want versatility without sacrificing forgiveness.
