The Cleveland Launcher HB (HiBore) Driver represents a significant leap forward in forgiveness and distance. Engineered for golfers who demand a high launch, low-spin ball flight with maximum forgiveness, this driver combines three powerful technologies — HiBore Crown, Launcher Cup Face, and Flex-Fin sole — into a clean, confidence-inspiring 460 cc package. By eliminating adjustable hosels and weight tracks, Cleveland freed up valuable mass to place it exactly where it counts: low, deep, and behind the face. The result is a driver that launches higher, spins less, and forgives more — without requiring any tuning from the golfer.
HiBore — short for High Bore — is Cleveland’s signature crown technology, featuring a subtle stepped profile near the face. By removing material from the top of the driver head, significant mass is transferred lower and farther back in the head. This repositioned centre of gravity naturally promotes a higher launch angle while simultaneously reducing backspin — a combination that translates to longer, straighter tee shots. The technology has been refined over multiple generations, and in the Launcher HB it delivers its benefits in a cleaner, more modern silhouette than earlier HiBore designs. For golfers who have historically struggled to get the ball airborne or who lose distance to excessive spin, the HiBore Crown addresses both challenges at once.
The Launcher Cup Face wraps around the perimeter of the clubface, extending across both the crown and sole edges. This construction allows a larger portion of the face to flex and rebound at impact, increasing the COR (Coefficient of Restitution) not just at the sweet spot, but across the full hitting surface. The result is a noticeably expanded effective sweet spot: off-centre hits that would normally bleed distance are rescued by the face’s ability to spring back energy regardless of where contact occurs. Cleveland positions this as one of the highest COR face designs in its class, making the Launcher HB particularly valuable for golfers whose strike patterns vary from round to round.
Integrated into the sole of the Launcher HB, the Flex-Fins are structural elements that compress and decompress dynamically at the moment of impact. Acting like a springboard, they channel additional energy back into the ball — particularly effective on heel- and toe-side mishits where traditional drivers lose significant ball speed. The fins also contribute to the driver’s structural rigidity between impacts, ensuring that the energy stored at impact is released efficiently rather than dissipated into the body of the head. Combined with the Cup Face, Flex-Fins make the Launcher HB one of Cleveland’s most powerful and forgiving driver designs ever produced, rewarding consistent swingers and mis-hitters alike.
Unlike drivers with adjustable hosels and sliding weight tracks, the Launcher HB deliberately avoids those components. The reason is straightforward: adjustable hardware adds mass in positions that contribute little to performance. The Ultralight Hosel eliminates that wasted weight and redirects it to the sole and rear of the head, where it actively lowers the CG and increases the Moment of Inertia (MOI). Higher MOI means the head is more resistant to twisting on off-centre strikes, preserving both distance and direction. The result is a driver that simply performs — no tuning required, no complex loft or face-angle adjustments to master before stepping onto the tee.
The Miyazaki C. Kua 5S is a premium Japanese graphite shaft fitted as standard in this driver configuration. Designed for Stiff-flex players — typically those swinging between 95–105 mph — the shaft delivers a mid-low kick point that promotes a penetrating ball flight with tight dispersion. Miyazaki shafts are renowned for their smooth load and release profile, which translates to confident feel through the swing and a consistent, repeatable release through impact. The counterbalanced design works in harmony with the driver head’s deep weighting to help square the face at impact, making it an excellent pairing with the Launcher HB’s low-and-deep CG philosophy.
The driver is fitted with a Lamkin Cleveland grip in standard size, providing a tacky, all-weather surface that promotes a light, tension-free hold throughout the swing. A relaxed grip pressure encourages the clubhead to release fully through impact — important for maximising the energy return from the Flex-Fins and Cup Face. The grip’s texture and compound have been selected by Cleveland to complement the overall feel profile of the Launcher HB, offering a balanced blend of feedback and comfort that suits a wide range of playing conditions and hand sizes.
