The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Jailbird 1/2 Ball Cruiser is a modern mallet putter built for maximum stability and effortless alignment. It combines the iconic Jailbird shape — a favourite on Tour for several years — with the new 1/2 Ball + Versa alignment optics that literally frame the ball at address, making it easier to find the centre of the face and improve your starting direction. Available in the Cruiser configuration, this model features a heavier head, a longer and heavier SL 140 shaft, and a 17" grip for golfers who prefer a heavier overall setup.

Technology in Detail

Ai-DUAL Insert

This two-layer insert was developed using artificial intelligence to optimise performance across the entire face. The soft urethane outer layer delivers a responsive, premium feel at impact, while the firm inner layer provides the structural support needed to produce consistent ball speed no matter where the ball makes contact on the face.

The dual-layer design also promotes an improved forward roll across the full face area, helping the ball get onto its intended line more quickly and reducing skid for truer, more predictable putts.

New FRD Grooves

The redesigned Forward Roll Design grooves are deeper and more aggressive than previous iterations. Set at a 19° angle, they work in direct concert with the two-layer insert construction to improve ball contact across the entire face surface.

The result is a faster transition into a stable, end-over-end forward roll — reducing initial skid and helping the ball track its intended line from the very start of its journey to the hole.

SL 140 Shaft

The Cruiser models are fitted with the Odyssey SL 140 steel shaft — a heavier shaft specifically chosen to complement the heavier Cruiser head weight, creating an overall heavier total setup that appeals to golfers who prefer added mass in their putting stroke.

Odyssey's testing consistently demonstrates that players using a counterbalanced, heavier overall configuration achieve more repeatable, consistent strokes — and the SL 140 is the foundation of that approach in the Cruiser range.

Cruiser Grip

The 17" Cruiser grip is longer than a standard putter grip, giving golfers the flexibility to position their hands anywhere along the grip to find the most comfortable and repeatable address position for their individual stance and setup preferences.

The additional length pairs naturally with the heavier head and SL 140 shaft to create a unified Cruiser configuration that promotes a smoother, more controlled stroke tempo.
