ZipCore technology works in concert with CBX 4's cavity back design, reducing vibrations while simultaneously boosting MOI for increased feel, control, consistency, and forgiveness. The lightweight, low-density core replaces heavier steel in the hosel and heel area with an ultralightweight yet strong, vibration-dampening material. Mass is then repositioned across the toe and high on the face, delivering an abundance of MOI and placing the centre of gravity precisely where you strike the ball. The result is a 7% increase in heel/toe MOI and a 5.8% increase in high/low MOI compared to the previous CBX generation — the highest total MOI ever achieved in a Cleveland CBX wedge.
Cleveland's proprietary HydraZip face technology features a dynamic blast and laser-milled line system engineered to enhance surface friction, maximising spin consistency in wet or dry conditions and from anywhere around the green. For CBX 4, three different blast media and laser-milled line patterns are applied depending on the loft: the 44°–48° wedges receive a lighter blast and fewer lines; the 50°–52° wedges receive a moderately rougher blast and more lines; and the 54°–60° wedges receive the roughest blast and the most lines to increase friction and maximise consistency at the highest lofts. The system also reduces glare at address for a cleaner, more confident look.
UltiZip face technology produces a specialised sequence of sharper, deeper, and tighter grooves to provide the ultimate in short-game spin, control, consistency, and bite. Sharper grooves slice cleanly through grass and debris at impact. Deeper grooves create sufficient space for grass, sand, dirt, and water to evacuate the impact zone quickly and completely. Tighter groove spacing delivers more serious bite and better edge contact across the face — and because the grooves sit closer together, Cleveland's engineers were able to add even more heel-to-toe groove rows than a standard wedge face, amplifying spin performance on every short-game shot.
The CBX 4 ZipCore comes automatically paired with one of three sole grind shapes — V, C, or S — selected by Cleveland's engineering team based on the wedge's loft to optimise your greenside shotmaking ability. The V-Grind (44°–52°) glides smoothly over turf on full-swing shots without digging, even on slightly heavy strikes. The S-Grind (54°–56°) is ideal for bunker shots and open-faced finesse shots from the rough or fairway, allowing the club to slide through sand or turf without losing speed. The C-Grind (58°–60°) is perfect for lob shots played with an open face — heel and toe-side relief gives you the freedom to manipulate the face angle freely in any greenside situation.
