Each hybrid in the G440 range is individually engineered to deliver a distinct ball flight: from the fade-biased 2H and the neutral mid-hybrids (3H and 4H), to the draw-inducing 5H, 6H, and 7H. Lofts are adjustable ±1.5° and lie up to 3° flatter than standard via the Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel.
The HL hybrids are specifically designed to help slower-swing-speed golfers swing faster and launch the ball higher and farther — reaching more greens in regulation and stopping the ball close to the pin. Relying on a lightweight aluminium back weight, the PING Alta Quick shaft, and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip, the HL build is approximately 15% lighter overall than a standard-build hybrid. The HL configuration is available from 3H through 7H, providing a speed-optimised setup for players who need that extra elevation and carry distance.
By removing 4 grams from the hosel, screw, and heel section, PING achieved a 12% reduction in centre of gravity (CG). This saved mass is redistributed lower and further back in the head, delivering an exceptionally low CG that maximises launch angle and stopping power without sacrificing ball speed. The Free Hosel design works in perfect harmony with the reduced face height to promote tight dispersion on off-centre strikes, giving you the forgiveness you need on every approach shot. Combined with the weight savings from the Carbonfly Wrap crown, this represents the lowest CG ever achieved in a PING hybrid.
The lightweight Carbonfly Wrap crown saves significant mass from the top of the head, which is then strategically reallocated to lower the CG and improve MOI for outstanding forgiveness on mishits. This multi-material construction — combining stainless steel, maraging steel, and carbon — not only enhances performance across the face but also contributes to a more muted, pleasing sound at impact. The result is a club that inspires confidence at address and delivers a satisfying sensation through every strike, regardless of where on the face contact is made.
The G440 hybrid face is 8% shallower and 6% thinner than the previous generation, delivering measurably faster ball speed across the entire face. The shallower face height facilitates contact higher on the face and launches the ball on a higher, more penetrating trajectory that holds greens with authority. The thin, high-strength maraging steel face wraps into the sole and crown, increasing face flex to generate greater ball speed, higher launch angles, and longer carries. The optimised face profile simultaneously controls speed on off-centre shots, maintaining consistent, tight dispersion even on less-than-perfect strikes.
The slimmed-down back-weight profile ensures the club sits flush to the ground at address, providing a confident, square look behind the ball. Crucially, the face angle remains perfectly consistent regardless of any loft or lie adjustment made in the Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel — so you can fine-tune your ball flight without altering your setup or alignment. This thoughtful engineering detail makes it simpler and more repeatable than ever to dial in your ideal shot shape, allowing you to commit fully to every swing with complete confidence.
Every G440 hybrid loft is individually engineered for a unique ball flight to suit different situations on the course. The 2H offers a slight fade bias with a lower, more penetrating trajectory ideal for tee shots; the 3H and 4H are tuned for a neutral ball flight with higher launch and excellent stopping power; and the 5H, 6H, and 7H are designed with a mild draw bias and higher launch to fly straighter and integrate seamlessly into an iron set. This loft-by-loft engineering approach ensures ideal distance gapping and consistent performance across the full range of the G440 hybrid family.
The lightweight PING Alta Quick graphite shaft is available in two flexes and, combined with the Lamkin UTx Lite Midsize grip and a lighter aluminium back weight, makes the entire HL build approximately 15% lighter than a standard-build hybrid. Achievable swingweights depend on shaft, length, and grip combinations. Standard swingweight for the High Launch (HL) build is C7. The HL build is available in 3H–7H.
