The PING G440 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) driver is built for golfers who fight a slice and want help getting the ball back on line. An adjustable rear weight promotes a draw bias for longer, straighter drives, while a redesigned face, lower overall weight, and a longer shaft combine to generate higher ball speed for real distance gains. The Free Hosel design and lightweight Carbonfly Wrap crown save mass that is repositioned low in the head, creating the lowest center of gravity (CG) in PING driver history, which increases forgiveness on off-center strikes and produces a noticeably softer, more pleasant sound at impact.
PING removed material from part of the hosel and repositioned that saved weight low in the clubhead. The result is the lowest center of gravity (CG) PING has ever produced in a driver, positioned close to the face's power line. A lower, more forward CG helps generate a flatter, more penetrating trajectory for more distance. It also widens the forgiving area of the face, so off-center strikes on the fairway keep more of their ball speed.
A reduced face height let PING engineers build a thinner, more flexible face without sacrificing durability. That extra flex increases ball speed at impact, and because the thin zone reaches across the whole face, speed stays consistent even on strikes toward the heel. The result is more usable ball speed on the shots that matter most, the ones that miss the exact center of the face.
A lightweight Carbonfly Wrap crown trims mass from the top of the clubhead so that weight can be reinvested lower in the body. Beyond lowering CG and adding forgiveness, the carbon crown changes how the clubhead responds at impact. It produces a noticeably softer, more muted sound compared with an all-titanium crown, while keeping the solid, powerful feel golfers expect from a PING driver.
A 23-gram weight in the back of the clubhead moves between two positions, Draw and Draw+, shifting the center of gravity toward the heel to help close the face and promote a draw. The Draw position is worth roughly 13 yards of correction, while Draw+ pushes that to around 20 yards for golfers who need a bigger fix for a slice or fade. It is a fast way to bring wayward tee shots back onto the fairway without changing your swing.
The lightweight, eight-position adjustable hosel lets a fitter fine-tune loft by plus or minus 1.5 degrees and lie angle up to 3 degrees flatter than standard. Small adjustments here reshape launch, spin, and shot shape without needing a different head, so the driver can be tuned to a golfer's swing. Every gram saved in the hosel is reinvested lower in the head to keep the center of gravity low.
The counter-balanced PING Alta CB Blue shaft is lighter through the tip, helping increase clubhead speed for players who want a mid-to-high launch. PING Tour 2.0 Black is built for a low launch and low spin, suiting faster swing speeds that need extra control. PING Tour 2.0 Chrome sits between the two, giving a low-to-mid ball flight with a blend of control and precision.
