The PING G440 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) driver is purpose-built for golfers who battle a slice and want to steer the ball back into the fairway. A 23-gram adjustable rear weight promotes a powerful draw bias for longer, straighter tee shots, while a redesigned thinner face, a lighter overall system weight, and a 46" shaft work together to generate higher ball speed for real distance gains. The Free Hosel design and the lightweight Carbonfly Wrap carbon crown save mass that is repositioned low in the clubhead, creating the lowest center of gravity (CG) in PING driver history — boosting forgiveness on off-center strikes and producing a noticeably softer, more muted sound at impact. Now available in a 9° loft option for faster swing speeds.
By removing material from a section of the hosel and redistributing that saved weight deep and low within the clubhead, PING has achieved its lowest-ever center of gravity in a driver. This CG sits closer to the face's power line than in any previous PING driver, helping generate a flatter, more penetrating ball flight for maximum carry distance. A lower and more forward CG position also broadens the forgiving zone across the face, so that off-center strikes — particularly toward the heel — retain more ball speed and stay on a tighter dispersion pattern. Every gram of saved hosel material is actively invested to make the driver more effective on the shots that matter most.
A reduced face height gave PING engineers the geometry to make the face both thinner and more flexible without sacrificing structural integrity. That added flex translates directly into higher ball speed at impact — and because the thin zone extends across the full face, including the high heel region where many amateurs tend to catch the ball, speed stays consistent wherever contact is made. The result is more usable ball speed across a wider effective hitting area, turning mis-hits into competitive distances. This face advancement is central to the distance gains the G440 SFT delivers compared with its predecessor.
The Carbonfly Wrap carbon crown strips mass from the top of the clubhead so that weight can be reinvested where it does the most good — low in the body. Lowering the CG in this way increases the moment of inertia (MOI), making the driver more forgiving across a wider area of the face. Beyond the performance gains, the carbon crown also changes how the driver sounds and feels at impact. Where an all-titanium crown would produce a louder, harder crack, the carbon construction produces a noticeably softer, more muted tone that many golfers find significantly more satisfying. The solid, confident feel of a PING driver is fully preserved.
The G440 SFT's defining feature is its 23-gram adjustable back weight, which moves between two CG-shifting positions: Draw and Draw+. In the Draw setting, the weight shifts the CG toward the heel, helping close the face at impact and promoting a gentle draw — delivering approximately 13 yards of right-to-left shot correction for right-handed golfers. The Draw+ position moves the CG even further heel-side, pushing correction up to around 20 yards for golfers with a more pronounced slice or fade tendency. Both settings work by shifting the weight distribution without requiring any swing changes, making it fast and easy to redirect wayward tee shots back to the center of the fairway and build confidence off the tee.
The lightweight Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel offers eight adjustment positions, giving a club fitter — or the golfer themselves — precise control over launch conditions. Loft can be fine-tuned by plus or minus 1.5 degrees from the stamped setting, and the lie angle can be flattened by up to 3 degrees compared with standard. These small adjustments meaningfully reshape launch angle, spin rate, and shot shape, allowing a single driver head to be optimized for a wide range of swing profiles without the need for a different clubhead. Every gram of mass saved through the lightweight hosel design is reinvested lower in the head to keep the center of gravity as deep and low as possible.
The G440 SFT is available with a choice of PING-engineered shafts, each tuned for a specific swing profile. The counter-balanced PING Alta CB Blue 50 is lighter through the tip, helping players generate additional clubhead speed for a mid-to-high launch — it is the standard shaft on the 46" length build. The PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 delivers a low-to-mid ball flight with a blend of control and precision, bridging the gap between distance and workability. The PING Tour 2.0 Black 65 is designed for a low launch with low spin, making it the natural choice for faster swing speeds that need additional trajectory control. All three shafts come in multiple flex options to ensure a precise swing-speed match.

Standard swing weight with the Project X Denali Red 60 shaft is 1 point higher than standard. Standard swing weight with the Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65 shaft is 2 points higher than standard.
